Mexico City, Mexico, September 22, 2022 – Manchester City’s international charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, and Official Water Technology Partner, Xylem, are delighted to announce the expansion of Xylem Water Heroes Academy, a world initiative in ten cities utilizing the power of soccer to sort out native water challenges.
Since its launch in 2021, Xylem Water Heroes Academy has engaged over 75 younger leaders and delivered vital water schooling to more than 6,000 younger individuals in 5 cities: São Paulo, Mumbai, Cape Town, New York City and Shanghai. As part of the exercise within the country, Young Leaders, Xylem workers and followers from Manchester City’s Official Supporters Club in Mexico City also joined forces to repaint the El Coyolito pitch and create a water-themed mural.
In addition, City within the Community coaches delivered training to 40 Young Leaders in Mexico City, sharing expertise and data in leadership, group soccer and WASH. This was followed by a three-day digital Summit, connecting Young Leaders and Xylem consultants from all ten cities to share ideas on tackling water challenges through football.

We received training from Man City coaches and learnt a quantity of video games that educate children about water conservation through football. Later this season, City fans will have a chance to learn extra about the five new Water Heroes Academy initiatives and vote for his or her favourite young water heroes.
